iPad Mini With A6 Being Tested, Retina iPad Mini 2 Coming This Year?
0Apple has not released a new iPhone or iPad this year. But as Tim Cook has suggested many times, exciting products are going to be announced before this year is out. Don’t get your hopes up though. We are not going to see an iWatch or iHDTV this year. In fact, we are not even sure Apple will have the iPad mini 2 with Retina display ready. The Wall Street Journal is reporting that Apple has been working with LG, Sharp, and Samsung to build these high-resolution iPad mini devices though.
Apple is not going to change the size of the iPad mini any time soon. But considering that Google’s Nexus 7 is a pretty formidable challenger, the company will have to step up and release a mini tablet that can compete. The new iPad mini could ship in multiple colors. But that is just a rumor at this point.
Speaking of the iPad mini 2, it seems Apple is testing new ones with the A6 processor inside. Developer Nick Frey has found references to three different iPad models (codenamed J75, J76 and J77). Unfortunately, these new iPad mini devices do not have the “@2x” mark that Apple uses to distinguish devices with Retina display. Apple does test products all the time. Plans could always change. The CPU upgrade sounds great but will that be enough?
