Robot tractors are nothing new. A few companies are working on perfecting them to enable farmers to save money and grow more. John Deere’s Autonomous 8R Tractor is an advanced tractor with 6 pairs of stereo cameras to detect obstacles in all directions. It uses a deep neural network to classify each pixel of the images of captures.
This autonomous tractor can be configured using the John Deere Operations Center Mobile app. Farmers can simply swipe on their phone to start the machine. They can also check its status on their mobile device. This app provides access to images, data and metrics to allow farmers to make adjustments. According to the company, these autonomous tractor robots will be available to farmers in late 2022.
