GoDice Review: Android / iOS Connected Dice with Internal Sensors

The GoCube is one of the best smart magic cubes on the market. It connects to your smartphone and shows you how to solve these types of puzzles. Particula didn’t stop there though. Their GoDice is an app connected dice set that lets you play backgammon and other fun games on your tablet. Your rolls are synced to your mobile device immediately.

The folks behind the GoDice were kind enough to send us a set to review. Our kit came with 6 smart sensing dice, a tablet stand and a quick charger. There is also a convenient dice case and pouch to store and carry everything. What’s neat about GoDice is that you can charge each die in about 13 seconds. You simply have to put them on the charger and hold until they light up.

Once you download the app, you can quickly connect the GoDice to your tablet. Within the app, you can find all kinds of fun games to play, including Backgammon, Yahtzee, Farkle, and Bomb Squad. You can also easily track how much battery each die has left. GoDice uses sensors to track the orientation of each die and syncs to your iOS or Android device fast. For certain games, you need only two dice but for others you may need more.

We had no trouble whatsoever connecting our GoDice to our iPad. The GoDice app lets you create and manage groups to play the games. Once you have selected a few dice to play a certain game, you want to make sure you stick with them. The app not only has classic dice games for adults but fun, interactive games for kids.

Overall, we found the GoDice to be extremely easy to use. The setup process was pretty smooth. We had no problem syncing and playing games on our iPad. It is especially fun playing games like backgammon on a mobile device with real dice as you won’t have to worry about the AI cheating with the rolls.
