Verizon iPhone’s official release date is only a couple of weeks away. Customers can start pre-ordering the phone as early as the first week of February. More details are now becoming available on Verizon’s wireless plan for iPhone. Verizon is interested in getting as many AT&T customers to switch as it possibly can. While it won’t hand over cold cash to get people to sign up for Verizon iPhone, the company does intend to offer an unlimited data plan for $30.
Mr. McAdam said the iPhone unlimited plan will be a temporary offer and that the carrier will follow AT&TÂ’s move to tiered pricing in the not too distant future,
the Wall Street Journal reports. Verizon iPhone owners will have to pay up another $20 to get hotspot capability on their phones. Many experts expected Verizon to offer the hotspot feature to set itself further apart from AT&T. It won’t be free though. The good news is iPhone owners will get an additional 2 GB of data over what’s allowed in their wireless plan.
Make no mistake about it. Verizon is expecting a lot from its deal with Apple. Verizon iPhone 4 won’t be a new device but there is enough demand for it to help Verizon grow further.
While we’ve made rapid progress in a relatively short period of time, adding 9.3 million smartphone customers this year and substantially increasing data ARPU (Average Revenue Per User), we strongly believe both connections and data ARPU growth could really explode over the next several years with proliferation of 4G LTE devices and the iPhone opportunity,
said Verizon Executive VP and Chief Financial Officer Francis Shammo. At this point, iPhone 5 is not expected to be a LTE device. Things could change from now to June. Will Verizon be able to handle the load iPhone owners will put on its network? We will have to wait and see.
