People used to pay a lot of money for universal remotes in the past. These days you can turn devices such as iPhone and iPad into one of those remotes. You will just need the right apps and accessories to do so. Harmony Link, which was just announced by Logitech, works in conjunction with Harmony Link App to turn your iPad into a smart remote for your home entertainment system.
Harmony Link lets you control your home theater system’s components on your tablet over your WiFi network. It has a built-in IR blaster that takes care of your commands. Owners can control up to 8 components. Harmony Link is currently optimized for iPad (content-wise) but works with iPhone and iPod Touch. Personalized program guides will only be available for iPad for now.
This kit makes controlling your system a piece of cake. Just use swipes and taps to control audio, playback, and much more. Its mini blaster accessory can control your system even when you can’t see them. Harmony Link can connect with more than one iPad at a time which is nice. It will be available in October but will set you back $99 though.
