Touch Sensitive House for iPhone 4?
3When it comes to dealing with iPhone rumors, one needs to be careful not to expect too much. Apple products always get the wildest rumors prior to their release. Some of those rumors come true but most of them don’t. iPhone 4 has not been any different. We have heard a lot of rumors about how this device will work, what areas it’ll improve upon over its predecessors, and what new features it will have. For instance, we know the new iPhone will have a much better quality camera. That’s almost a given. But will the next gen iPhone come equipped with OLED? That’s not as certain.
So here is another somewhat interesting rumor. According to many sources, the new iPhone will have touch sensitive housing, somewhat similar to what we have seen with Magic Mouse. That should allow iPhone owners to control their phone more conveniently, though I suspect Apple has grand plans for it.
Apple’s going to put a lot of innovation, not just on the hardware, but also on the software of the new iPhone
Another exciting rumor going around is the possibility of Apple adding an RFID reader to iPhone. RFID is a technology that is not going away. Having the ability to scan things (in a library or store) and transmit the information to iPhone can only make life easier on a daily basis. Add to that the fact that Apple has been working on adding a fingerprint reader to iPhone, and we’ve got a monster of a phone on our hands.
Apple may have a lot of issues to worry about these days with all the lawsuits and competing phones that are popping out of nowhere. Nevertheless, the company never fails to deliver with its next generation products. Droid and Nexus One are both decent phones capable of holding their own against iPhone. But they are mostly trying to catch iPhone. At least that’s been the case so far. Apple and its products are not perfect, and one would hope that the company was less controlling. AT&T has been a big issue to deal with as well. While all the above rumors are very exciting, I’d be perfectly happy if we just got a new carrier for iPhone. You can have the best phone in the world, but if you can’t use it when you need it, it’s useless.
Your turn: what iPhone 4 rumor has excited you the most?
I just wanted to comment on this article. As a consumer, it is so aggravating to me that Apple won’t open the iPhone up to Verizon. I bought an iPhone and within a week, I returned it for a refund. The “devise” was everything I hoped it would be.. the phone “service” was terrible! ! I couldn’t even make a call in my own home, and I am not in a rural area, I live directly in town (pop. 36,000). Since I loved the iPhone so much I bought an iTouch. However,it lacks some of the important features of the iPhone such as a camera and a constant internet connectivity. No wi-fi, no internet. Why couldn’t Apple make an identical device to the iPhone but without the phone component??? Why is there not an aircard (from someone OTHER than ATT) that plugs in the iTouch? I love 90% of the iTouch, but without a camera and constant internet for the apps, it is no good to me. I am taking it back as well. I am not going to spend $300.00 on a glorified mp3 player.
My friend just purchased the Droid which has the features that were mentioned in your article above (i.e. RFID and fingerprint scanner). Though I like the iPhone better, I am probably going to get the Droid, just for the simple fact that I can have an all-in-one devise and actually be able to use the phone…
I would truly rather have the iPhone… Damn you Apple ! !
I think iPhone could be coming to Verizon at some point. As far as scanner, I am not sure what you are referring to. Droid and Nexus One are great phones, but a lot of what you hear are just hype. They are great phones if you can’t have iPhone, and I am not trying to be biased here, considering that the blog is named “iPhoneness” 🙂
When did the droid get a fingerprint scanner? Perhaps some research before making statements?
