Apple’s Siri development team has big plans for it. Siri is a great feature for the iPhone 4S but still has room for improvement. It appears Apple is working hard to add sports scores to Siri. This could happen through a partnership with ESPN. Evan Coleman, an iOS developer, has discovered that Siri recognizes sports teams as a token. For instance, “New York Yankees” would be recognized as one token rather than three separate words.
Interestingly enough, ESPN has recently released an API to allow developers to pull sports scores. ESPN is owned by Disney and the relationship between Apple and Disney is a solid one. Of course, ESPN or Apple will not confirm this story for now. But Siri is going to see huge improvements in the upcoming months and years. We are just hoping that Apple will bring it to new iPads in the future.
Siri may be cool but the Smartpet robotic dog for iPhone is quite special. It is developed for those of you who prefer adopting a robotic dog rather than a real one. The Smartpet uses your iPhone as its head. Users can play on their phone’s touchscreen to control the dog. Smartpets support over 100 different facial animations. It seems the included app can even learn your face and voice. As you can see in the above video, these Smartpets move around too. These will be available in Japan starting April 24th for around $80.
