Siri has quickly become a hit among iPhone fans. We have already seen plenty of videos on the web showing what Siri is truly capable of. Even Apple competitors admit that Siri has the potential to take business away from them. There is just one problem: Apple has not yet given its blessing to bring Siri to other iOS devices. Some hackers have already gotten around Apple’s restrictions to put Siri on iPod Touch and older iPhones. It does seem illogical for the company to not offer Siri on other iOS devices in the future.
As Jailbreak Nation reports, Apple may already be thinking about bringing Siri to iPhone 4. Apparently, it has given employes access to a special software build that brings Siri to older iOS devices. While Siri has generated a lot of buzz on the Internet, its launch has not gone without a hitch. Siri outages have not been fun for fans. Besides, Siri may not perform as well on older devices (e.g. iPod Touch).
At this point, it does seem Siri will make it to iPads and older iPhones in the future. This move could cause the company a few headaches. For starters, Siri has been a great differentiation point between iPhone 4 and 4S. Many iPhone 4 owners upgraded to iPhone 4S just to get their hands on Siri. Considering that iPhone 4 is now much cheaper, offering Siri on it could take away from iPhone 4S sales. Apple will most likely wait a while before pulling the trigger on this move.
