Ping comes to iPad, Connect with Twitter

Trending iPhone, iPad apps:

Apple’s latest project, Ping, may have not been as successful as the company anticipated. But there are no reasons to believe Apple will give up the project anytime soon. Apple’s recent deal with Twitter to link up Ping with it demonstrates Apple’s dedication to making a go at it with Ping.

Starting today Ping, iTunes’ new social network for music, and Twitter are making it even easier for people to share music discoveries with their friends by putting Ping activity, song previews and links to purchase and download music from the iTunes Store right in their Tweets on Twitter.com

Apple may have missed out on a Facebook deal for now, but Twitter should give Ping the boost it needs. At the very least, this deal should get Ping going until Apple figures out what to do with it. Social networking is not Apple’s core competency, so we can cut the company some slack for not getting the Ping experience “just right” at this point.

In the meantime, Apple has added Ping support to iTunes’ app for iPad. iPad owners can now take advantage of iTunes software on their device to connect with other music fans and interact with music products available in iTunes (reported by 9to5Mac)

Depending on how things work out with Twitter, Apple could eventually get some sort of Ping integration deal with Facebook. Things could change if Facebook decides it does not need Apple’s Ping. The company is rumored to be working on Facebook e-mail system at this point (to challenge gmail). Who knows what’s next for Facebook.

Are you impressed with Ping?
