Opera is truly a unique browser. For years, it has stayed among the elite browsers on the market, only to get too little credit for all its features and capabilities. But it does have quite a loyal following. It took Opera a few weeks to get through the obstacles set by Apple, but Opera’s mini browser has finally found its way to iPhone, giving those who are looking for something beyond Safari a new tool to explore the web with.
Opera is designed with speed in mind. Whether you have speed demons or want to save money on bandwidth, Opera may be worth your while. Just like some other top browsers, you can use Opera’s Speed Dial feature to check your favorite websites with a quick tap. The browser also supports for multiple tabs, which is essentially a must have feature for multi-tasking.
What’s beautiful about Opera’s Mini Browser is the fact that it can speed up your website by delivering an optimized, compressed version of it to your iPhone visitors. But not all is great about the app. For starters, not all sites are fully compatible with Opera. Your site could technically not show up right using this browser. The auto resize feature does not seem to work properly as well. Surprisingly, the browser is super fast with some sites and super slow with others.
Nobody expected Opera Mini Browser to be perfect. No new app is. It does have some minor issues that need to be addressed, but if some of these inconsistencies are addressed, Opera Mini Browser can go places. Considering that the app is for free, it is well worth a try at this point (despite its glitches).
