Apple To Release Mountain Lion Today, New Products Later

Apple has been improving the Mac OS considerably with every update. The latest update will make its debut today. Apple has announced that Mountain Lion (OS X 10.8) will be available in the app store today. The cost of upgrading is going be only $19.99. Many experts have been wondering when iOS and Mac OS will merge into one operating system. That is not happening this time around. But the update will bring Reminders, Notes, security features, and plenty of other enhancements.

The new Mac OS further narrows the gap between the PC and phone software. You are going to need the most recent versions of Mac OS (Lion and Snow Leopard) to upgrade smoothly. If you happen to have bought your Mac after June 11th, the update will be made available to you free of charge. Mountain Lion is going to be more social friendly (with Facebook integration and sharing options). The Power nap feature, Game Center, iCloud integration, Messages, Notifications Center, Dictation, and Gatekeeper all make this piece of software worth downloading.

Apple is under severe pressure to deliver big with the next iPhone. The investors seem to be a bit alarmed with the recent flat sales by Apple. As CEO Tim Cook explains, the company will remain committed to making great products in these tough economic conditions:

Our north star will be making the best products in the world — that’s what we breath, that’s why we live and we are not changing that … Economic turmoil may push us from side to side, but we’re going to stay focused on making the best product. We’ve seen again and again over the years, that this is when we distance ourselves further from people who don’t innovate.
