Riding a bike every day can be a lot of fun and great for your health. If you are planning to do it, you should do so in a safe fashion, especially at nights. There are many ways you can go about increasing your visibility at night. The Monocle is an interesting product that turns your iPhone into a bike light in a flash. It attaches to your belt and uses a red filter over the flash to increase your visibility. You won’t need to carry other gadgets to get this to work.
The Monocle attaches to most belts. There is no need to use a tool to mount this anywhere. This will fit both naked iPhones and the ones with a slim case. Your phone’s battery life is always going to be an issue when using products such as this one. The developers claim a 15 minute ride will only use 7% of your phone battery (at 3 flash per second rate). A companion iPhone app is available, which you can use to customize the Monocle’s settings. This interesting project is currently being funded on Kickstarter.
Speaking of interesting products, Elgato now has new gadgets for iPhone and Android users to play around with. Elgato’s EyeTV Mobile is now smaller than before. You will be able to watch DVB-T broadcasts on your iPhone 4S or iPad with it. The EyeTV Micro is a completely new product for Android devices. These would be handy if you are planning to spend some time in Europe. The EyeTV Mobile will cost you around $145 at this point.
