Meet the miniPCR: a portable and affordable DNA analysis system that lets you program DNA experiments. It is app-controlled, so you can use your smartphone to create and study DNA science with the help of your phone. The device and its companion software are designed to help you learn a thing or two about the world of DNA science. It measures only 2 x 5 x 4 inches and does not require any assembly. It is compatible with Android and Mac/Windows devices.

miniPCR’s companion app allows you to visualize experiments. The software lets you monitor PCR conditions in real-time and export/share your data. You will be able to perform food safety, family tree, and forensic analysis with such a tool. The developers are planning to introduce a GMO detection testing kit if they meet their funding goal on Kickstarter. miniPCR costs as low as $399 at this time.
