Microsoft Office is Mountain Lion Ready, Power Nap for MacBooks

💡Make your home smart with these Alexa enabled connected devices

The new OS X Lion is already out. The software was released through the Mac App Store for $19.99 yesterday. It is more sleek in some ways and has a ton of new features for users to take advantage of. More importantly, the new OS X provides tighter integration for Apple iDevices and social networks such as Facebook. Some folks may feel hesitant about upgrading to Mountain Lion due to software issues. Not all software may work without issues on it. But we know that the Microsoft Office suite is OS X Mountain Lion ready.

Microsoft has been working with Apple to make its software ready to go on machines running the new OS. There a couple of things that Microsoft wants Office for Mac users to know. For starters, you should have the AutoUpdate option enabled. Small updates are required to help you get the most out of your Mac experience. The GateKeeper feature is the main reason for having the AutoUpdate option on:

Mountain Lion ships with a new feature called Gatekeeper. Gatekeeper helps protect users by allowing you to choose to only download and install software from known developers, like Microsoft. Please note that due to the Gatekeeper architecture, updates will not run when you download and initiate them on your desktop; instead please use Microsoft AutoUpdate to keep your copies of Office for Mac current.

Speaking of Mountain Lion’s new features, Power Nap is now going to be available to 2011-2012 MacBook Air devices through a firmware update. Power Nap is a system management feature that puts your Mac to work even when it is sleeping. Your MacBook will need to have a SSD drive to use this feature. Your Contacts, Calendar, Reminders, Notes, Time Machine Backup, Find My Mac, and Photo Stream all continue to run in some form or fashion as your Mac sleeps. This may sound like a small feature but it is quite powerful.

Which new OS X feature has excited you the most?
