Mac Store Launches, iPhone 3GS for $49
0Many of us picked up our iPhones as soon as they came out. There are some people who are always waiting for the next best gadget or heavy discounts on existing ones. iPhone 3GS may not be the top dog anymore, but it is still a very decent smart-phone. The fact that AT&T intends to sell iPhone 3GS for only $49.99 with a plan should make it more intriguing to those who don’t want to spend a few hundred dollars on a new phone and don’t desire the shiny iPhone 4.
The new plan, as reported by The Wall Street Journal, works for both existing and new customers. Buyers need to pick up a two year contract (at least $39.99 a month + a $15 data plan). Considering that iPhone 3GS is currently being offered for $99 online, AT&T’s latest offer gives you 50% discount over the current deals. Other companies have offered iPhone discounts in the past. With AT&T losing its iPhone exclusivity, this is another attempt to keep AT&T customers from jumping ship to other carriers (and pick up new ones too).
This cheap iPhone 3GS plan is exciting but not as much as the brand new Mac App Store. Apple has finally announced the launch of its Mac store with over 1000 of apps available at launch.
With more than 1,000 apps, the Mac App Store is off to a great start… We think users are going to love this innovative new way to discover and buy their favorite apps,
claimed Steve Jobs. Popular Mac applications plus brand new ones are expected to be available in this store. Mac App Store may not outperform iOS app store anytime soon, but it gives consumers another reason to strongly consider picking up a Mac over regular PC computers.
