Mac App Store, iPad 2 Launch Dates Revealed?
02010 has been a very hectic year for Apple. It has already introduced a bunch of killer products and positioned itself to have an even better year in 2011. Apple is not done for the year though. The company is expected to introduce an exclusive store for Mac applications (similar to the one available for idevices). According to an inside source, Apple was supposed to introduce Mac App Store on December 13th. Apparently, that date has been pushed back due to some complications that Apple has faced going for an early launch. At this point, most experts believe that Mac App Store won’t be ready for a 2010 launch. Steve Jobs and Co. could always surprise us though.
Mac App Store is a very exciting service but the buzz around it does not even come close to that of iPad 2. Apple iPad is one of the most successful products in history. Considering that Android 3 is only around the corner (with decent Android tablets not too far behind), many are expecting big things from iPad 2. DigiTimes reports that the 2nd generation iPad could start shipping in 100 days:
the sources pointed out that the iPad 2 will ship as soon as the end of February in 2011. Apple originally planned to start mass production in January, but because the device’s firmware is currently still in testing, Apple has been postponing the schedule. Since Foxconn’s new plants in Chengdu are still in pilot production, iPad 2 will be mainly supplied by its Shenzhen plants, while the company’s upstream component partners have all been notified of the shipments schedule.
We have heard a lot of rumors about iPad 2 and its potential features. It is expected to have a better quality screen, a faster processor, and a front-facing camera. The early rumors pointed to smaller iPads, but those rumors can’t be confirmed at this point.
