The iPhone already has a pretty decent camera. You can use it to capture high quality photos at home and on the go. It does not replace a DSLR though. But you can use it in conjunction with your camera to capture better photos. TriggerTrap is a complete mobile and physical dongle solution that connects to your camera and lets you record and capture pictures remotely from your iPhone.
In order to use TriggerTrap,, you need to make sure you have a camera that is fully compatible with this system. Over 300 models are supported. Once you pick up the right dongle for your camera, you can use your iPhone or a wired controller to manage your DSLR’s settings. An Android and iOS app are included for this add-on as well. These mobile apps allow you to capture timelapse videos, trigger recording based on sound level in the room, and take long exposure shots. This is not a cheap system by any means but could prove useful for experienced photographers.
Speaking of cool products, Lockitron’s iPhone-controlled keyless entry system is certainly interesting. This WiFi device lets you or your loved ones control your lock from anywhere in the world. This can be done over the web and using SMS. The system lets you unlock your door in a flash. As long as you have an iPhone 5 or 4S, Lockitron’s Bluetooth 4.0 feature will sense your approach. The system has a knock sensor and lets you know when someone returns to your home. The batteries will last up to one year, which is not bad. You can order one of these for $149 at the time of this writing.
