Latest iPhone 5 News Round-Up
0We are getting awfully close to Apple’s expected launch event for iPhone 5. Apple never seems to fail to sell its igadgets but iPhone 5 is a huge project for the company. The iPhone has been going back and forth against many powerful Android phones in the past few months. Steve Jobs and his team need to come up with a very impressive new iPhone to keep the momentum for this device going. The internet is filled with iPhone 5 rumors and mockups. The recently published mockups by MacRumors are some of the best we have seen.
These folks have developed these mockups from the leaked iPhone 5 designs from the past couple of months. Let’s make no mistake about it. iPhone 5 will be a shiny object with sleek features as the above image suggests. The oval shaped home button is an interesting touch. From the rumors we have heard, the new iPhone will be slimmer too (which lines up well with the above design).
We are also hearing rumors that more carriers could come on-board with Apple to spread iPhone goodness around. iPhone 5 will be available through Verizon and AT&T. As Dvice has suggested, Sprint may join the duo in selling these units. BTIG Research analyst Walter Piecyk has upgraded Sprint’s stock rating from “sell” to neutral presuming this move will happen. Not everyone is happy about the current iPhone 5 launch timeline though. Verizon expected the launch date to be in June and not October:
Obviously we’re disappointed that the iPhone 5 didn’t come out in June… We continue to prepare for it and when that comes we’ll be ready…. We [hoped we] would end the year around 50 percent, but that will probably delay that for a quarter to the first quarter of next year to hit that target,
explained Verizon Communications CFO Fran Shammo. This just goes on to show what a powerful force iPhone has become.
What’s your take: does the above design look tempting enough for you to invest in an iPhone 5?
