The times are tough. There is no question about that. But Apple keeps pulling these big numbers quarter after quarter. So it was just a matter of time before things slowed down a bit for Apple. Apple’s problem is essentially the fundamental issue of our time. Folks either don’t have the money to spend on such a flashy gadget or they are scared too. A gadget can give you a good feeling for a few days or weeks, but having money in the bank for the tough times has a much more long-lasting effect.
And maybe that’s why the iPod Touch is going stronger than the iPhone, as far as momentum is concerned. The iPod touch doesn’t need you to spend thousands of dollars on a service contract, and you get the apps for it too. And you can buy external kits to make it compatible with most iPhone-only apps. Many companies are trying to beat Apple in its own game, but maybe it’s the iPod that has the best chance of taking anything away from the iPhone after all.
What do you think: would you settle for the iPod Touch instead of the iPhone in these tough economic times?
