It is that time of the year again. Apple has not had a whole lot of new products for us to be very excited about. But Tim Cook has promised the next few months are going to be exciting for Apple fans. Multiple sources have reported that the next iPhone will be announced on September 10. We are talking about both the iPhone 5C and iPhone 5S products. The iPhone 5S is expected to have a faster processor, better hardware components, and a finger print reader. A gold version might be announced also.
Apple is not going to introduce iPhones with bendable displays or anything earth-shattering this year. But the new iPhone will have a new home button with a fingerprint reader. KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Ku is reporting that the iPhone 5S will have a sapphire convex home button:
Convex home button creates space for fingerprint sensor; yield to improve. We think that a fingerprint sensor will be placed under the home button of iPhone 5S…Sapphire prevents home button from being scratched. A convex home button could be more easily scratched, so a harder material is required. We believe Apple will switch from plastic to sapphire, whose hardness is second only to diamond.
Apple is expected to put AuthenTec technology to good use here. The idea of iPhones with a finger print scanner may not sound too exciting but could work out great for businesses. Of course, Apple’s board seems a bit concerned with the direction the company has gone since Tim Cook took over. Will the iPhone 5S change anything? We will have to wait and see.
