The Apple iPhone has been one of the most popular smartphones for a few years already. Apple tends to update the device in phases. Each year, it releases a new iPhone but major updates are not always on the cards. According to Digitimes, the next iPhone release, which will be called the iPhone 5S, will go into trial production as early as December. A major design change is not expected.
Considering the amount of pressure Android smartphone makers are putting on Apple with their shiny phones, Apple may release the new iPhone 5S earlier than usual. At this point, it is not clear what additional features the iPhone 5S will have. Apple has made changes to its product release cycles in the past (with the iPhone 4S and iPad 4). So another change won’t be too surprising.
Speaking of new products, the iPad Mini 2 is already in the works as well. As many of you have guessed it, the device will have a Retina display. It will most likely have a faster processor and a thinner design. Apple tends to refresh iPads once a year (exception being the iPad 4). It seems that trend will continue with the iPad mini 2 slated to be released in Q4 2013.
You don’t have to wait till next year to get your hands on the iPad mini with LTE though. The 4G version of this tablet will be shipping this week. iOS 6.0.1 has already been released, so the stage is ready for this device.
