iPhone 5S Costs $199 To Build, iPhone 5s Drop Test
0Apple has sold a ton of iPhones in the past few days. Apple phones are not exactly cheap if you refuse to get a 2 year service contract with them. They don’t cost Apple a fortune to make though. According to IHS iSuppli, Apple’s iPhone 5s costs only $1999 to build. The iPhone 5C costs the company $173 per unit. These numbers include the cost of assembly for each unit, which comes down to $8 per unit. If you want to buy an iPhone 5s without a contract, you should be ready to spend $649 or more.
As IHS has suggested, both phones are very similar in many ways. The iPhone 5s simply has a better processor and newer memory chips among other things. The fingerprint scanner which we hear a lot about these days is most likely designed by Authentic. As these numbers suggest, Apple will be making a ton of money with these new phones but we already knew that.
The new iPhones look shiny but will they stay that way if you drop them by accident? Android Authority has released a video that shows how the iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c perform in drop tests. Both of these phones are pretty solid but the iPhone 5s fared a bit better in this test. If you plan to drop your phone for any reason, you may want to just get a shockproof case to protect your investment.
