iPhone 5 Wishlist: 11 Features Apple Should Add

30+ must see flexible iPhone mounts & stands

iPhone 4 is going to start shipping in a little while. The device is a decent upgrade over iPhone 3GS and has been improved in many areas. The trouble is, we already knew a lot about the device before it was even announced. So the WWDC announcement was a bit underwhelming. While we will still get iPhone 4 (at the very least for testing), we can’t wait for iPhone 5. Let’s hope Apple over-delivers with iPhone 5.

Here are 11 features that we wanted to get with iPhone 4 and hopefully will see in iPhone 5:

  • Solar iPhone: this is a no brainer. Solar technology may not be perfect at this point, but it can still help smart-phone owners powre up their devices on the move. Wouldn’t it be nice if we all could charge our iPhones with the power of the sun?
  • Removable Battery: we still do not understand why Apple does not offer this feature. It’s just more convenient and makes life much easier for iPhone owners. While we wouldn’t hold our breath, it’d be a pleasant surprise if Apple implements this in iPhone 5.
  • More Powerful Processor: the processor used in iPhone 4 is pretty powerful. But our speed demons are not satisfied. With more sophisticated apps, more speed is required.
  • Support for SD card: while you have the option to buy an iPhone with lots of memory, it’d be still very helpful if we could use SD cards to expand our device’s memory. Will iPhone 5 support SD cards? One can always dream.
  • Video Chat over Network: Face Time over WiFi is nice. It’ll be even better over network. We won’t see this feature in 2010, which means it will most likely be introduced in iPhone 5.
  • Better Battery Life: this is the main issue with a lot of top smart-phones on the market. If Apple is not going to add solar technology to iPhone, at the very least it should improve iPhone’s battery life even more.
  • Dual Screen iPhone: we are not talking about a larger screen iPhone here. However, it’d be nice if we could take out an iPhone and use it regardless of which side we were looking at.
  • Cloud Computing: Apple needs to do some catch up in this area. Let’s hope iPhone 5.0 won’t be a slave to iTunes (like all iPhones are at this point).
  • Biometric Security: security is always going to be an issue with smart-phones. While we are not a big fan of fingerprint-readers on laptops, they could work on smart-phones. Will we see one on iPhone 5?
  • RFID: the chances are very high that we will get this feature in the future (maybe not with the next iPhone). Apple’s patents on this are all over the place. This technology can turn your iPhone into a payment device among other things.
  • More Networks: the above features are all very exciting. But we’ve got two words for you: Verizon iPhone.

What’s on your iPhone 5 wish-list?
