iPhone 5 Release Date, Will Get Secondary Screen?
0Everybody wants to know when the new iPhone is coming out. With all due respect to Verizon iPhone 4, that was not a device to be excited about. Apple was never going to introduce a new design and a whole set of new features with Verizon iPhone. From all the rumors that we have heard, there is a decent chance iPhone 5 will be released some time in June 2011. The Wall Street Journal puts the latest rumor in perspective:
website, etnews.co.kr, says AAPL will hold a special event in June to unveil the device a few weeks before its release. Over the past three years, AAPL has unveiled new iPhones at its World Wide Developers Conference held in the early summer
iPhone 5 is expected to have a faster processor, a much better camera, and a whole new design with a slightly larger display. The jury is still out on whether we will see Apple’s Smart Bezel idea in iPhone 5 or iPad 3. Apple has been toying with the idea for a while. As Patently Apple has discovered, the company already has a rough plan how to implement this idea:
Apple intends to introduce a method that employs a very cool secondary display scheme that utilizes a printed segmented electroluminescence display. Apple intends to use the secondary display to introduce a set of new illuminated indicators that are able morph into various controls for work and play.
Those of you who are planning to pick up an iPhone 5 are better off just waiting rather than picking up another phone hoping to get an early upgrade. AT&T is already raising its upgrade fees, which is quite astonishing to see considering all the bad press it has gotten in the past couple of weeks over the reliability of its network.
Our iPhone 5 rumor round-up would not be complete without a leaked picture. A bunch of supposed iPhone 5 pictures were leaked to a Vietnamese forum that show a larger screen and some new features. Unfortunately, those are fake (image via BGR).
What are your guesses for iPhone 5? What new features would you like it to offer?
