iPhone 4’s RAM Revealed
0For all the good things that Apple does when presenting new devices, the company is notorious for not going deep enough when discussing technical specifications. That was the case with iPhone 4 as well. Steve Jobs did talk about iPhone 4’s display, Face Time, and other innovative features available on this device. But he did not mention anything about the device’s on-board memory. According to MacRumors, iPhone 4 will have 512 MB RAM on board. That is not much of a surprise considering that the device is expected to be heavily used by “multi-taskers.”
The iPad has only 256 MB of RAM on-board. iPhone 4 should perform much better. That’s not the only good news. According to yet another report (rumor), a CDMA flavor of iPhone is being manufactured for the holiday season. If the report is true, we may get Verizon iPhone by the end of the year. Why iPhone fans should not get their hopes up, Verizon iPhone rumors simply refuse to die. So maybe there is some truth to them after all. Verizon is expected to join AT&T in introducing tiered pricing and getting rid of unlimited data plans. The move will give the company a better chance of handling all the traffic that would come its way if it indeed picked up a flavor of iPhone.
We will probably need to change the design of our pricing where it will not be totally unlimited, flat rate,
said John Killian, Verizon Communications CFO. This year’s holiday season seems too soon for Verizon and Apple to get something worked out. Considering that iPhone 4 will start shipping in a matter of days, AT&T would not be happy with the idea of Apple introducing a Verizon iPhone this year.
In the meantime, you do not want to wait any longer if you are interested in getting your hands on an iPhone 4 anytime soon. Apple and AT&T have been struggling to keep up with the demand. The shipping date has now been pushed to July 14th. The demand has been that high.
