iPad Issues Surface, WiFi Problems Frustrate

Don’t count your chickens too early. That’s certainly the case with first generation devices such as the iPad. The device has been dubbed as magical and “out of this world” by a few critics. But if you thought that these brand new iPads were not going to have issues, you are sadly mistaken. People have already started discovering some of the frustrations that the new iPad brings to the table. And we are not talking about one issue.

The iPad was out of stock before Apple started shipping the device. Many iPad fans had to stay in line for a while to get their hands on the device. Nothing would be frustrating than waiting in line to get a defective device. But iPad’s WiFi issues are not an aberration. The iPad seems to have serious WiFi issues. Apple does pay a lot of attention to its design process. But it just seems the company may have dropped the ball with iPad’s wireless antenna. Things don’t sound that great if we go with what PC World has postulated:

The culprit here is the Wi-Fi antenna, located behind the Apple logo on the back of the iPad. This sounds like a hardware issue. To strengthen the reception, Apple would have to physically dig into the iPad and replace the antenna.

That’s not even half of the problem. It seems Apple iPad likes to get warm as well. Macbooks have had overheating issues in the past, and it seems the iPad may be suffering from one of those issues as well. Apple has posted a simple solution for the WiFi issue. But it’s not clear whether the company is planning a software update as well.

We have had similar issues with our test Macbook unit. From time to time, it fails to connect to our wireless network even after multiple tries. Unfortunately, Apple was not able to address our issue then. So let’s hope the iPad issue can be fixed. These simple tips may alleviate the issue.

Faulty USB connection is another headache that some iPad owners have come to face with. Some have complained about slow sync or charge time. Having to wait 30 minutes or more to sync your iPad is not exactly pleasant. It’s not clear what Apple can do to fix this issue.

Let’s hope Apple is quick enough to address this issue before it blows over. It’s true that a lot of iPad buyers have had unrealistic expectations from their iPad. But these issues are major and not something you can exactly live with. Can a recall be in the works?
