The new iPad Air is expected to be announced next week. The device is expected to be thinner and faster than the previous version. It will feature an A8 processor, Touch ID, and a whole host of new features. As multiple sources have reported, the device is also expected to have 2 GB of RAM. A GeekBar photo on Weibo shows the new 2 GB RAM chips that will allegedly be inside these new iPads.
GeekBar’s recent leak has not been confirmed by Apple. But it is only logical for these tablets to finally get a RAM upgrade. They will also have a 8 MP camera, Apple Pay, and a FaceTime HD camera. All will be revealed on October 16th. Speaking of Apple products, developer Hamza Sood has analyzed iOS 8.1 beta 2 and discovered graphical digital assets labeled “3x~ipad.” That suggests that Retina HD displays are in the works for Apple tablets. It is not clear whether this refers to the iPad Air 2 or the iPad Pro that will make its debut next year. Regardless, Apple’s upcoming media event could be quite exciting. New iMacs are also expected to be announced at the event. Will we see new Mac Minis? That remains to be seen.
