Apple is finally ready to announce the new iPads. People familiar with Apple’s plans have told AllThingsD that the company will hold its invitation-only event on October 22. We have heard a ton of rumors about the iPad 5 and iPad mini 2 in the past few months. The iPad 5 is expected to borrow a few design elements from the iPad mini. It will run the all powerful A7 processor. The iPad mini 2 is expected to have a Retina display.
At this point, it is not clear whether we will hear anything about the iWatch at this event. But the new Mac Pro and OS X Mavericks will be a part of the presentation. It seems we will have to wait till early November to get our hands on the iPad. We did hear about Apple having issues manufacturing enough iPad mini 2 units to meet the potential demand for it. A delay is not on the cards though.
The iPad mini is already a pretty popular tablet. Did you know that it also has the fastest touchscreen? That’s what the folks at Agawi have found out. Their TouchMarks report states that the iPad mini had an average response time of 75ms. That is faster than the iPad 4 (81ms), and NVIDIA Shield. It will be interesting to see how these numbers change when the new iPads are released onto the market.
