iPad 3: A5X Processor, 8 MP Camera, 2048 x 1536 Display?
0We are only a couple of weeks away from iPad 3’s announcement date (which is rumored to be March 7th). The iPad 2 has been a great device for Apple. But it is now time for the company to deliver a worthy upgrade. The latest rumors suggest that while the iPad 3 won’t be perfect, it will be a major step up over its predecessor. We are still not clear whether this tablet will have a quad core processor. In fact, the latest leak by WeiPhone shows an A5X inside an iPad 3 prototype. While the A5X processor will be more speedy than iPad 2’s processor, it will still be an evolutionary upgrade.
Many of us were hoping for the iPad 3 to have a quad core processor. But a dual-core iPad 3 won’t necessarily be a deal breaker. Traces of a quad core chip were found in iOS 5.1 beta a short while ago. So Apple could always surprise us in that area. The good new is the new iPad will most likely have a 8 MP camera. Apple Daily has published high quality photos of what seems to be a larger camera on the iPad 3. The rear-facing camera in these photos is clearly larger than the iPad 2’s. The iPad 2’s camera is not something to write home about, so this is a huge step up.
Lastly, the iPad 3 is likely to have a retina display. MacRumors has been able to obtain what could be an iPad 3 display. The display is the same size as the previous iPads. But its pixels appear to be one quarter the size of those on the iPad 2. That suggests the iPad 3 screen could offer a full resolution of 2048×1536. This tablet is rumored to have a larger battery too but we have not been able to get our hands on photos confirming that.
Are you impressed with the iPad 3 so far?
