Many Apple fans can’t wait to get their hands on a brand new iPad with a better screen and more powerful hardware inside. Apple did add minor updates to iPad 2 over its predecessor. But experts expect the company to go all out with the iPad 3. According to iLounge’s sources, the new iPad will be slightly thicker due to its higher resolution screen. The added thickness will be negligible for consumers (about 0.7 mm). GigaOM reports that iPad 3 screen shipments are already ramping up. These are retina displays (2048×1536 pixels).
Apple is expected to include a quad core processor in the next generation iPad. We are already hearing about ASUS and Acer bringing quad core processors to their tablets. Apple can’t afford to introduce a new tablet that is inferior to those in the processing power department. The iPad 3 will most likley be released some time around March 2012.
The iPhone 5 will be improved in many areas as well. The same sources suggest it will have a 4 inch screen. It will also be 8mm longer than its predecessor. The iPhone 5 will be LTE-ready, so Apple has to design it with battery life issues in mind.
The future for Apple remains bright as long as the company stays on the right path. As the recent Nielsen study suggests, the iPad, iPod Touch, and iPhone remain tempting even to young children. This is not a trend that will be reversed anytime soon.
