It is no secret that the next generation iPad is coming next month. Not everyone is going to pick up an iPad 3 when it hits the market. Some Apple fans have been waiting a long time for iPad 2 prices to drop. The rumors we have heard suggest Apple will start offering older iPads at a significant discount once the iPad 3 is launched. But you don’t have to wait that long to get iPads for cheaper. Meijer, a regional retailer in the U.S., has slashed the in-store price of the 16 GB iPad 2 by $70. The deal will be available for the week of February 12-18.
This is a limited time deal as the retailer gets ready for the next generation Apple tablet. The iPad 2 has gotten promotional discounts in the past. But this is perhaps the best deal on the device yet. There are rumors that Apple will slash iPad 2 prices by $100 in March though.
The iPad is not the only device Apple intends to update this year. The iOS 5.1 code does suggest that a new Apple TV may be in the works (codenamed J33). A Best Buy source has told 9to5 Mac that not only Apple TV is out of stock in some stores but is no longer shipping to stores at all. Even Amazon does not ship these units right away (ships in 2 to 5 weeks). Details are quite sketchy about the next Apple TV. But it does seem a new one will be released very shortly. Will it be a 1080P device? We will have to wait and see.
