The iPad is already a powerful tablet, but that does not mean Apple will stop making new ones each and every year (as long as the product is going strong). We have heard rumors about iPad 2 and features that it will have right after iPad 1 was released to the market. Digitimes now reports that iPad 2 will be ready to ship in the first quarter of 2011.
Apple is expected to launch the second-generation iPad in the first-quarter of 2011, the suppliers noted.
iPad 2 is expected to pick up where its predecessor has left off. It will come with a front-facing camera to make video-chatting possible using an iPad. It could come in multiple flavors and sizes. Unfortunately, these are just rumors at this point (we all know how those work).
The iPad has been a nightmare for its competitors. Netbooks are just one category of devices that have suffered due to iPad’s popularity. According to BestBuy’s CEO, Apple iPad may have single-handedly halved netbook sales. The iPad is coming to BestBuy stores in Fall 2010. Walmart and Target are also expected to offer the iPad by the end of 2010.
You won’t have to wait for iPad 2 as the original iPad will be getting a major boost with iOS 4.2 in November 2010 (see video above). This new OS will bring multi-tasking, wireless printing, folders, better mail and interface to iPad. Who needs a netbook when you can have a powerful, shiny tablet?
