Apple has been quite dominant in the mobile industry. It is true that Android holds a large part of the market but iPhone and iPad have been hard to beat by Apple rivals. Even though many fans were at first disappointed with iPhone 4S, it seems that has not kept them from picking up this device like hotcakes. All U.S. carriers have already sold out their iPhone 4S inventory.
iOS devices are not only in demand, they are being used to consume a ton of data. A recent study by comScore suggests that iOS devices are responsible for 58.5% of browser-based page views in the U.S. Android devices are a distant second with 31.9% of the share. iOS also leads among mobile and connected devices with 41.3% share. This suggests that iOS users consume more data than those who use other platforms.
The same study suggests that iPad is still dominating the tablet market. While a significant number of people use their mobile phones to get things done on the Internet, tablet use is on the rise. iPads delivering 97.2 percent of all tablet traffic in the U.S. is quite impressive. Tablet owners use their device to catch up with the news, play around on social networking sites, and purchase things. At this point, it is not clear which non-iOS tablet can challenge the iPad’s dominance.
