Apple has big plans for iOS. The latest rumors suggest that Apple will announce iOS 6 at WWDC with plenty of new features. We have already reported on Siri coming to the latest generation iPad. While phone commands won’t be supported, most other commands will be. Siri is not expected to be available on iPad 2s and older iPads by the time this is all settled. As 9to5 Mac has reported, iOS 6 will borrow a bunch of features from the upcoming OS X Mountain Lion software.
The new iOS is expected to have iCloud Tabs. That means your web browsing experience will be synced across your devices. A “Do Not Disturb” feature is also expected to be included. This feature will let you turn off notifications, alerts, and anything else that could disturb you when you need some quiet time. The Mail VIPs feature is also on the table. That means you will be able to mark people important to you and have their messages starred on your iOS device.
iOS 6 is rumored to bring 3-D mapping features to iDevices. Last but not the least, Facebook will be integrated into this platform. The relationship between Facebook and Apple has been anything but solid in the past. It seems both companies are now ready to update their status and join hands. It will be interesting to see how that changes if Facebook introduces its own phone.
These are all rumors at this point. But Apple needs to offer big updates to keep its lead over competitors. The iPhone and iPad are going to see more rivals this year. But with iOS 6, they will continue to remain the hottest gadgets on the market.
