iOS 6 Maps Issues Surface, Google’s App Ready To Debut
0The new iPhone is one of the best smartphones around. The device will start shipping today and has already millions of fans waiting for it. It will run iOS 6. While the new iOS has a lot of new features, it does use a new map application. Apple’s new Maps application looks quite sleek and had many fans excited. But it turns out the app needs a lot of work to be ready for prime time.
The Maps application is filled with errors and bugs. Those are to be expected for a new piece of software. But this is going to affect the experience of many new and loyal iPhone users. Even die-hard iPhone fans are finding it difficult to defend all the shortcomings of this new app. The maps not only have errors but need to be way more sophisticated with their data to keep iPhone users happy at this point.
We are continuously improving it, and as Maps is a cloud-based solution, the more people use it, the better it will get … We’re also working with developers to integrate some of the amazing transit apps in the App Store into iOS Maps…. We appreciate all of the customer feedback and are working hard to make the customer experience even better
explained Apple spokeswoman Trudy Muller. This does seem to be a blunder by Apple. The Maps app does not seem nearly ready for prime time. Let’s make no mistake about it. Apple will fix this issue but it could take a bit of time to address such a huge problem. Many iPhone users are already coming up with ways to go back to Google Maps. Google has already submitted its new app to Apple and waiting to get approval.
The new Maps app is quite sleek and has some exciting features. But the data errors and glaring shortcomings leave a whole lot to be desired. This is now Google’s opportunity to pounce. Can Apple fix this mess before it’s too late? We will have to wait and see.
