iOS 5 Release Date Delayed for iPad 3?
0Many of us were wondering why Apple did not discuss any plans for iOS 5 during the iPad 2’s launch event. iOS 4.3 and other minor updates have been nice to have. But multiple sources have claimed that iOS 5 will be a major step up over iOS 4.3. It just happens that it won’t be making its debut in this spring or summer for that matter. As Tech Crunch reported, iOS 5 is more likely to show up some time in fall 2011.
The new iOS will rely heavily on the cloud. It is no surprise that Apple has been working hard to incorporate cloud computing in its offerings. Some of these projects are expected to show up when iOS 5 is introduced. Apparently, Apple is also planning to release a brand new iPad too. iPad 2 may be only a month or so old, but Apple competitors are already catching up. So the idea of iPad 3 debuting in 2011 is not such a crazy idea.
Apple will most likely be offering music and location-based services in the upcoming fall. At this point, it is not clear whether Apple will hold its usual April event. This is all just a juicy rumor at this point. Apple has been quite successful with its current game plan. Unless the company is dealing with some unknown internal issues, we expect it to release a new iOS very soon.
The iPad 3 rumors are quite interesting considering that iPad 2 is fresh out of the oven. It will be interesting to see whether Apple has been affected at all by the events in Japan. Apple iPad 2 is one awesome tablet but there are signs that Apple competitors are catching up (e.g Samsung’s new tablet). Maybe Apple will release a smaller or larger iPad to keep iPad competitors at bay. We will have to wait and see.
