iOS 4.2 Update Delayed?
0iOS 4.2 is one of the most anticipated iOS releases for sometime. For the first time, iPad owners will get the chance to enjoy the majority of features iPhone 4 owners have enjoyed for a few months. Let’s not forget that iOS 4.2 will bring multi-tasking to iPad. The release was expected to be released around November 12th. It now seems we will have to wait a week to get our hands on it. Apple never really discussed the official release date for this OS update, so technically this is not a delay.
It is not clear why iOS 4.2 has been delayed. According to a rumor, iOS 4.2 was causing WiFi issues for iPad, forcing Apple to delay the release to address this issue. Some claim it could take Apple up to two more weeks to fix this problem. We have not been able to confirm that.
iPad owners have been praying for iOS 4.2 for quite some time. The addition of multi-tasking to iPad will allow iPad owners to get even more out of their device. Here is a summary of what iOS 4.2 will offer:
- Wireless printing
- Multi-tasking
- Interface improvements
- Game center
- Airplay
- Universal mail app
- iAd support
- Improvements in accessibility
- Many more …
With the holiday shopping season upon us, this new update should provide Apple with even more momentum to dominate tablet sales for this period. Considering that Apple iPad does not have too many formidable challengers at this point, Apple should manage to sell a ton of tablets regardless of how the iOS 4.2 situation turns out.
