Regardless of whether you are a fan of Google, there is no question many of us are in love with Gmail. People may not be into e-mailing as much as they are into tweeting and circling these days. But a Gmail app for iPhone does have a place. Google has kept us all waiting for years to bring a native Gmail application to iOS (giving us web based solutions instead). According to MG Siegler, Google will finally introduce a native Gmail app for iOS in the very near future.
We have not been able to verify this. But MG Siegler’s sources claim that the launch of a native Gmail app for iOS is close. In fact, the app may have already been submitted and stuck in the review process. Unless the app is unstable and buggy, there is no reason for Apple not to approve it at this point.
To be fair, Google has been giving us all Gmail fans a mobile friendly mail interface to play with on our devices. The native app will provide support for push notifications, starring, and many other cool features Google plans to roll out for Gmail users.
We have played with way too many buggy Google apps in the past. Let’s hope the native Gmail app does not disappoint.
