Garmin HUD: Windshield iPhone App Directions, LocalScope Goes Free
0Garmin has been a force in the GPS industry for years. Many of you who bought personal navigation devices years ago probably have tried Garmin PNDs already. Garmin makes decent iPhone car navigation apps too. The company’s new portable HUD lets you get even more out of your GPS apps. It shows directions on the windshield of your car, so you can keep up easily.
The device receives its information from your iOS device over Bluetooth (running Navigon or Street Pilot apps). The Garmin HUD provides lane assist, speed, traffic, information, and safety camera alerts too. HUD automatically adjusts its brightness level so you won’t struggle to see what you are looking at in direct sunlight. The Garmin HD sets you back $129.99. That’s not counting the cost of a Garmin or Navigon app.
Speaking of iPhone navigation apps, LocalScope is now available for free on the App Store. Many popular iPhone and iPad apps have gone free in the past couple of days, so that is not a surprise. Localscope is an app designed to help you explore your surroundings conveniently. It aggregates information from local and social sites such as Google Maps, Twitter, FourSquare, ParkMe, Google+ Local, and many more. It should go without saying that this is a limited time deal.
