Our iPhones and iPads are becoming more powerful each and every year. Their processors are so powerful that some believe Apple will someday use them in some of its Mac products. That remains to be seen. But Apple is exploring the idea of using mechincal fans in portable devices. That’s what the latest patent filing by the company suggests.
Excessive heat is the enemy of electronics. As iOS devices become more powerful, Apple will have to find a way to address this issue. The filing “Cooling system for mobile electronic devices,” which was discovered by Apple Insider, shows a fan system that cools down mobile devices using a motor fan. The question at this point is how Apple could possibly fit these components inside upcoming iOS devices, considering that they get thinner all the time. This filing could be for the iPad or a whole new generation of iDevices. We will have to wait and see what Apple is up to.
Speaking of the iPad, the Blue Microphone Spark Digital microphone has finally been released to the market. This is a studio-level condenser that enables iPad users to record quality audio on their machines. It can also be connected to a computer using a USB connection. An adjustable desk stand is included. The headphone jack makes zero-latency real-time monitoring possible.
This microphone is advertised as being compatible with Garage Band and other recording applications. You are going to need a Lightning adapter to connect it to your iPad mini and iPad 4. The product will set you back $199.
