Apple has been getting better in making life difficult for jailbreakers. Cracking iOS 5.x has proven to be more difficult than other releases. @pod2g’s corona release did work for older generation iOS devices. The A5 based products may be difficult to jailbreak. But according to the iPhone Dev Team, a solution is almost ready to be released. Thanks to the efforts of @pod2g, members of the iPhone Dev Team and Chronic Dev Team, iPhone 4S and iPad 2 users will soon have the chance to jailbreak their devices. These folks are already working on fixing the bugs.
The A5 version of the corona jailbreak will come in multiple forms. A simple GUI for Mac or PC is promised. An alternative command-line interface will be available, which will be useful for debugging purposes. The iPhone Dev team promises to integrate corona into the redsn0w tool in the near future to maximize the chances of the jailbreak working for everyone.
The corona A5 jailbreak will support iPhone 4S running iOS 5.0/5.0.1 and iPad 2 (iOS 5.0.1). The team recommends iPhone 4S owners to stay with iOS 5.0 to maximize their chances of success though.
