Apple’s Future Plans: Cloud, Holographic Displays, Green Power?
0Apple has achieved a lot of good things in the past few years. But it can not afford to take its foot off the gas pedal if it wants to continue growing and reaching new heights. iPhone 5 and iPad 2 are already in the works and will make their debut in 2011. The company is already expected to bring apps for Macs to the market in the early part of the upcoming year as well. According to multiple sources, cloud seems to be the next big move for Apple. Services such as iTunes can be taken to the next level with the power of the cloud.
All the above plans by Apple are not very hard to predict. Those are natural moves for it. But holographic displays will be something quite disruptive if Apple gets into that business. Apparently, Apple has a patent for a display capable of showing holograms without requiring users to need a special glass to watch their content. That’s essentially a 3D display on steroids.
Coincidentally, IBM predicts that in 2015 people will be able to make holographic calls from their phones. Other predictions by IBM include:
- air-breathing battery
- smart traffic software
- eco-aware vehicles
- cities run by servers’ heat
We wouldn’t put it past Apple to be involved in the above mentioned areas by 2015. For now, a convertible Macbook, iPad 2, and iPhone 5 are closer to reality.
