What is it about the other side of the world? That’s something Apple needs to figure out as Apple iPhone has yet to generate as much buzz as it did in the U.S. upon its release. In case you missed it, Apple and Unicom have joined hands to bring the Apple iPhone to the Chinese market. One has to wonder what Apple was expecting but what it did not get was the same reception the iPhone received in the U.S.
According to the Wall Street Journal, people did show up for the launch party but the turnout was not as large as some expected. Of course, let’s not forget that the Asian markets are much different from the Western ones, and people in that area of the world greet new gadgets in a much different way than we do.
China Unicom will be selling two versions of iPhone and should give Apple a much needed boost in the huge Chinese market. The price can be a bit high but consumers always have the option of going after gray-market iPhone. Apple may be facing a big challenge in Android handsets in the U.S., but the company is going full steam ahead with its international plans. Let’s not forget that Orange will start selling Apple iPhone, starting November 10th. So Apple will keep growing regardless of what Google does. How long Google and Apple will keep fighting is another story.
