So much for iPad competitors putting up a decent challenge against it. We recently heard rumors about Apple rivals not being able to move their tablets fast enough. A survey by Nielsen Company gives us more reasons to believe that may be the case. The study shows that iPad has 82% market-share in the tablet market (the slight majority being 3G iPads). Samsung Galaxy Tab is 2nd with only 4% market-share with Dell Streak running at third.
Among those surveyed, about 50% were the only ones to use their tablets in their household whereas 43% of folks shared their tablets with others. This survey also confirms what many experts have been saying about desktop computers. With only 24 hours in each day, it is inevitable that using tablets will lead to people neglecting their desktop computers.
As you can see in the above chart, tablets are affecting the netbook, e-reader, desktop, and gaming markets. With Apple focused on challenging Amazon in the e-book industry, We can expect iPad 3 to be even more e-book friendly. Apple competitors have a lot of work to do to catch up to it.
