Amazon has opened a can of worms with its Kindle device. Don’t get me wrong. The device has been a success for Amazon. But with success comes lawsuits. Amazon has been dealing with its own lawsuits, but now it has shared one with Apple too. According to Apple Insider, MONEC is the latest company that has decided to take on Apple. This time, it’s all about iPod Touch being a capable e-book reader. It seems MONEC has a patent on an “Electronic Device preferably an Electronic Book,” and Apple is in violation of that patent with its ebook reading applications.
It is not clear whether MONEC has a case here. Apple has had content readers on iPhone/iPod Touch before, and the timing of this lawsuit seems a bit off. But the Swiss company is known for taking on the giants, and they are not afraid of going after Apple. These lawsuits are becoming quite silly these days, but what can you do?
