500px Apps Removed From the App Store, 4.8-inch iPhone Video
0The photo sharing service 500px should not need any introduction. Many photographers are familiar with it. The company happens to have multiple apps in the App Store. Unfortunately for 500px, Apple has decided to remove the apps due to concerns about nude photos. The 500px app has just under 1m downloads, so this is a blow. Apple had this to say about the move (published on TechCrunch):
The app was removed from the App Store for featuring pornographic images and material, a clear violation of our guidelines. We also received customer complaints about possible child pornography. We’ve asked the developer to put safeguards in place to prevent pornographic images and material in their app.
Currently, the company relies on its community to identify inappropriate photos. That seems to be not good enough for Apple. 500px is working on technology to handle nude content more effectively. The company claims to have a way to address the issues brought up by the Apple team. It is safe to say the 500px app will be back even though that has not happened yet.
Yesterday, we reported on how Apple may be working to release a 4.8 inch iPhone. We are not sure whether it will be called “iPhone Math.” In fact, Apple may not release such a device at all. Nevertheless, Russian Apple news site Apple Digger has put together some renderings of such a device. This iPhone is rumored to have a 12MP camera and come in multiple colors. We will have to wait a few months to find out more about Apple’s iPhone strategy for 2014 and beyond though.
