Description

This app is a JavaScript IDE for your iPad and it works completely offline. You can write and run your code directly on your iPad inside Kodiak, no need for an internet connection. With our great syntax highlighter and enhanced on-screen keyboard, iPad coding is as comfortable as possible.

Of course, for JavaScript development, you will need some libraries and frameworks, such as jQuery. We bundled them into the app for you! Just check out the "lib" folder to see the massive list of included libraries.

We also prepared a bunch of examples, for both newbies and skilled JavaScript developers. Some of them show the language itself, some of them demonstrate the abilities of bundled libraries. Even if you are a JavaScript guru, you'll surely find something new to learn.

Would you like to learn some HTML5, CSS3 and JavaScript skills? Kodiak JavaScript is just for you.

Big Problem

This was a great editor with a few issues. Namely the problem with large files. But lately a larger problem has arisen. A new folder called "inbox" was automatically created and it will not let you exit the folder to go back to your other files. When you hit the back button it flashes the root folder with all of your projects (now blank meaning all of my work is now gone ) then back to the inbox folder. No amount of restarting or reinstalling has foxed this bug and I am very disappointed that my many hours (and $6) working on my projects have been in vain. Oh well I shall just wait until next year and get another app that supports JavaScript editing. Although their PHP app is great.

Simply wonderful

Enjoy the hawtness of Javascript on the hawtness of an iPad. A match made in digital heaven. Kodiak for Javascript features a fantastic coder-keyboard, file management, and beautiful syntax highlighting (I am partial to the Sunburst theme).

Use Dropbox "Open in..." to pull in ZIPs of your JS. Although Apple blocks straight .js imports, you can import HTML files with your Javascript embedded.

It is easy to include the bundled 50+ frameworks just by referencing the file name in your header. Also easy to add new libraries - just add the files to Kodiak and reference them in your HTML.

If I were to request features, I would ask for a Javascript console, the ability to open large files with syntax highlighting, and a straight Dropbox sync, but even without these features, K4JS is THE must have Javascript IDE for iPad. It feels good to use and that is the number one requirement!

Also, the folks behind the software fixed the iOS 5 crash the day after launch, so please ignore the bad reviews from the impatient, unforgiving people and enjoy this wonderful work of coded art.

Images not supported

I can't seem to figure out a way to import images into this app. I emailed them twice to both emails but they never seem to respond. I tried to open Dropbox and select open in, but Kodiak JavaScript is never an option. Get this app if you don't care about the support for an application or uploading images.
