We have covered some very cool weather apps on this site in the past. Most of us just want to get accurate weather forecasts and readings from these types of apps. There are weather radar apps that go way beyond those and offer sophisticated weather radars and data. Here are 6 iPhone and iPad apps that let you further explore the weather conditions in your area:
MyRadar Pro Weather Radar: displays animated weather radar around your current location on your iPhone and iPad. You can interact with the map and find out whether bad weather is coming your way.
RainAware Service: uses your phone’s GPS capability, local radar, and weather algorithms to predict the weather in your area. It shows you time and intensity estimates for rain, snow, and thunderstorms in your area.
NOAA Radar US: this is very useful if you expect severe weather conditions in your area frequently. It offers cloud cover and satellite imagery for the U.S. Provides severe weather warnings.
Weather Radar: includes the animated radar from the National Weather Service for the entire U.S. It shows clouds over your map. Multiple map styles are included. You get multiple types of radars too (e.g. cloud cover, standard, …).
NOAA Hi-Def Radar: shows the latest weather radars on iPhone / iPad. Lets you change the opacity of your radar. You can use this to track hurricanes and storms too.
eWeather HD: one of the most beautiful weather apps on this list. It provides you with current weather conditions, temperature readings, rain/snow animated radar with zoomable maps, and NWS severe weather alerts.
There were a couple of other apps that perhaps deserved to be included in this list. But they had too many ads for our taste or were slower than the above options. The mentioned weather radar apps are solid and more than capable of helping you keep up with the weather conditions in your area.
