Another exciting week to look forward to. The previous week couldn’t have been more controversial for Apple. Not only did it have to deal with damage control when it comes to Google Voice, it had to think about the FCC reviewing the whole rejection story. This story won’t go away unless Apple addresses it in a way that is acceptable to its fans. There are a lot of hardcore iPhone fans who would not accept bogus excuses. Now, as I mentioned last week, I doubt folks will actually boycott Apple over this whole Google Voice issue, but you never know.
Another story to track this week is how hackers respond to the latest patch released by Apple. Last week, we had the Black Hat conference, and iPhone security issues were on the agenda. Apple did release its patch in time to prevent trouble makers from taking over iPhones around the world. Let’s hope their patch is comprehensive enough to finally stop SMS attacks once and for all.
Perhaps the most exciting development to track this week is the tablet rumors that are going around the Internet. A few months ago, experts were talking about Apple working on a netbook. It turned out Apple is not working on a netbook but rather a super tablet – iPhone. Many iPhone fans are excited about the fact that Apple could release a larger iPhone (though it’s not really an iPhone). This new device will not only act as a portable mini-computer but as an e-book reader, a gaming machine and a drawing tablet. You can always go for iPhone nano if you don’t prefer the rumored super large iPhone.
