iOS App Rentals Are Coming?
0Since Apple started selling applications through the App Store, many of us have been waiting for it to introduce trial apps. Some developers do offer lite versions of their apps these days. But limited versions of apps are not completely helpful for shoppers. Apple is planning to fix that through. App Advice has found a few strings in iTunes 10.5 beta 9 that suggest Apple will be unveiling app rentals soon.
This feature will most likely work like most of us expect: app shoppers get to test apps fully for a limited period of time before they get deleted or disabled. At this point, it is not clear whether app rentals will be offered for all titles in the App Store. As many have suggested, we doubt Apple will allow paid app rentals for apps that cost only a couple of dollars.
App rentals is a feature that could revolutionize the way developers bring their titles to the market. iOS businesses will not only have the chance to get the full version of their products in more people’s hands, they get to increase their sales and revenue in the process. This feature will also allow Apple to introduce its own game rental service for iOS. Not everyone is willing to spend a significant amount of money for expensive games. In those cases, renting apps would work well for iOS businesses and Apple.
Apple is expected to become an even bigger player in the mobile gaming market in the very near future. The company does not need to launch its own dedicated gaming console to stay competitive. iPhone and iPad are already highly popular gaming gadgets.
